Internship

There are three ways people learn: hearing, seeing, and doing. Studies have shown that the first two methods are significantly less effective than the third. Think about it, did you learn to drive by hearing a lecture, watching a video, or actually getting behind the wheel? The first two may have helped, but until you’ve actually done it, we wouldn’t want to be driving with you! In the same way, hearing and seeing about an organization is one thing, but the experience of actually being a part of it is invaluable.

This is the point and purpose of an internship: to get temporary hands on experience - to get your feet wet - and as a result, re-evaluate your goals, ambitions, and skills. You wouldn’t believe the kind of opportunities there are for internships through PMI! Social work, family and children’s health, teaching, counseling, administration, finance, visual communication, and graphic design are just a handful of available roles. Moreover, PMI is proud to welcome both foreign and domestic students. In the past our interns have come from a variety of schools and backgrounds such as USC (University of Southern California) DU (Delhi University), and Cedarville University (Columbus, OH).

The exciting part is we continue to grow and reach further in new and different ways! And as we do, we are able to encourage potential interns to come with their own projects that would serve to either enhance existing work, or create new possibilities for us! We also recognize that each student comes with existing requirements for their internship, so we are sensitive to work with you individually to meet those demands. While special summer internships are available, we are flexible to each student’s schedule.

The criteria for internships with PMI is a simple matter, answered in two easy questions: First, are you an official student at a university? Internships are not summer jobs, but rather, academic requirements for serious students. It is a learning experience primarily, not a money making opportunity. And second, do you have the desire to serve and learn? If you can answer yes to both, then PMI may be a promising prospect. In fact, we see it as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to find more than just a passing mark. Find a purpose. Find a course to set your eyes on. Contact us when you’re ready!
